The Board of Trustees of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), on the initiative of Chairman Suleiman Kerimov, decided to establish a prize fund for Russian wrestlers - winners and prize-winners of the World Championship that recently ended in Moscow.
The total prize money will be 500 thousand dollars. A special prize will be 3 million rubles. awarded to freestyle wrestler Bilyal Makhov, who defeated two-time Olympic champion Artur Taymazov from Uzbekistan in the final of the super heavyweight category. 1 million rubles each. will be awarded to world freestyle wrestling champions Viktor Lebedev, Besik Kudukhov and Denis Tsargush, as well as Ambako Vachadze, who added the title of best Greco-Roman wrestler to the gold medal. The size of the bonuses for silver and bronze medalists will be 500 and 250 thousand rubles, respectively. The remuneration to representatives of the coaching staff will be 50% of the amounts awarded to the athletes.
"Samotlor" ahead of two super league clubs
The draw for the oldest Russian club volleyball trophy - the 32nd Siberian and Far East Cup among men's teams - has ended in Nizhnevartovsk. Starting this season, the tournament is dedicated to the memory of the country's honored coach Yuri Furaev. For the second year in a row, Novosibirsk Lokomotiv won the honorary prize. But if in 2009 only four representatives of the super league took part in the competition, now the tournament has returned to its full-fledged attractive format with eight cup candidates from different divisions of the national championship.

Sibileva wins IAAF Walking Challenge
Russian Tatyana Sibileva won the final of the world “IAAF Challenge” in race walking, held in Beijing. At the 10 km distance, Sibileva finished first of 13 participants, setting a personal record and showing the best result of the season in the world - 41.53.0. The Russian woman led the approach from the very beginning and after the third km had an advantage of 10 seconds, which she then only increased, becoming unattainable for her rivals. Among them was the Olympic medalist Chinese Liu Hong, who took second place. “Bronze” went to the German Melanie Sieger.
For men, the entire podium was occupied by the hosts of the competition, the best of whom was 17-year-old Wang Chen, who showed a result of 37.44.2
Chess Olympiad has started
The 39th World Chess Olympiad has started in Khanty-Mansiysk, in which a record number of teams will take part - 159 men's and 119 women's. Russian teams, bearing in mind the unsuccessful performances of past years, will be represented by the strongest squads and have the right to count on victories in men's and women's competitions.
The men's team includes former world champion Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Sergey Karyakin, Peter Svidler and Vladimir Malakhov. The women's team included Tatyana and Nadezhda Kosintsev, world champion Alexandra Kosteniuk, Alisa Gallyamova and Valentina Gunina.
The women's and men's tournaments include 11 rounds according to the Swiss system. Each team will consist of four main players and one reserve player.
As part of the Olympiad, the next, 81st Congress of the International Chess Federation will take place on September 29, where the elections of the FIDE President will take place. The current head of the organization, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who has led FIDE since November 1995 (nominated by Russia), and multiple world champion Anatoly Karpov (nominated by the chess federations of the USA and France) are vying for this post. The winner will be determined by secret ballot on the principle of “one country, one vote.”
Kudryavtseva failed to win the final
Russian tennis player Alla Kudryavtseva lost to Australian 23-year-old Jarmila Groth in the final of the tournament in Guangzhou, China - 1:6, 4:6.
