The joint appeal of the national-cultural autonomies of the Komi Republic regarding the facts of inciting inter-religious razor in the region

Last Saturday in the Syktyvkar place, a forestry in the area of ​​the alleged construction of the mosque by the nationalist movements of the region organized a large -scale action aimed at inciting hatred for people professing Islam. More than 70 people, the bulk of which are supporters, or members of radical nationalist movements, called on people to sign an appeal to the authorities with a demand to prohibit the construction of the mosque. At the same time, people were explained that if the religious structure is built, then there would be “shahids, Wahhabis and so on”, there were statements that “Islam is Satanism”, etc.

The initiator of this campaign was the leader of the national-patriotic movement "Border of the North" Alexei Kohlov, whose supporters distributed a frank lie that in the mosque, which at the moment did not even have a project, will be a hotel, storage rooms, and so on.

Residents of the republic have always been distinguished by tolerant relations to representatives of different nationalities, religions and beliefs. Muslims, Orthodox, Jews, Catholics, as well as adherents of other religions always lived in peace and consent on the Komi land. Similar actions, which are aimed at inciting interethnic and religious growth, are able to destroy this world.

In our opinion, open xenophobia, based on lies and exposing people of other religions as dangerous for society, is unacceptable, which is propagandized by a number of public organizations, is unacceptable. The nationalist calls that sounded at this event, bordering the fascist rhetoric, are insulting to any sensible person and, in our opinion, require the assessment of law enforcement agencies.

Of particular concern is the fact that the initiators of the anti -Islamic campaign are supported by the official media of the Komi Republic, actively covering any attacks on the adherents of this religion. Information is submitted one -sided. After reading the messages, it seems that Islam is an absolute evil. The provocative shares of nationalists are presented in a positive light.

The information is also outrageous that the leader of the "border of the North" Alexei Krygov is a creature of a number of high -ranking officials of the administration of the head and government of the Komi. Please give an explanation regarding these facts, as well as express your attitude to the initiative of the construction of a mosque in the capital of the Komi Republic.

We hope that the persecution of the adherents of Islam is not the state policy of the Komi authorities, and you intervene in the situation. This appeal is signed not only by Muslims, but also by representatives of other religions, realizing that they can be the next.
