Following the coalition “For a Russia without arbitrariness and corruption,” which united a number of prominent opposition democratic politicians, reports appeared about a coalition of left-wing forces not represented in the ranks of the so-called systemic opposition. At the same time, the members of the newly formed association consider themselves to be the real opposition, so they simply called themselves “Russian Opposition.” On September 21, at a specially convened meeting, representatives of several movements and parties belonging to the left flank announced unification.

However, one of the meeting participants, the leader of the Other Russia, Eduard Limonov, stated in his blog that it is wrong to consider the result of the current meeting as the creation of a new left-wing coalition as opposed to a right-wing, democratic one. According to him, of the parties whose representatives were present at the meeting, only the “ROT Front” (Russian United Labor Front), created on the basis of the “Left Front” (which, in turn, also met as a union uniting various leftists) can be called leftist ). Neither the “Other Russia”, nor the newly created party “Motherland: Common Sense” (on the one hand, on the basis of the half-forgotten party “Motherland”, on the other, also uniting various movements, certainly not adjacent to the conditional right flank), in the opinion of Limonov cannot be called one hundred percent leftist. The leader of “The Other Russia” emphasizes that the “Russian Opposition” association calls everyone under its banner, including the newly formed democratic coalition. He recalled that the meeting on September 21 was the second; the first, held on August 30, was attended by Denis Bilunov, a representative of Solidarity.

“We are talking about creating a free union of opposition political parties in general, and not a coalition of left-wing parties,” writes Limonov. “So that once and for all it is clear and clear who the OPPOSITION is in our country. The Ministry of Justice has twice already refused to register the ROT Front party. “The Other Russia” can also hardly count on registration in the near future (it’s quite possible that the democratic coalition can too). It is precisely this – refusals to register – that will become the topic of the statement that the Russian Opposition coalition will soon adopt.
