We're burning again

The fire again engulfed large forest areas in different regions of Russia. According to Kommersant, on September 21, 1,591 hectares of forest burned throughout Russia. Of these, as Kommersant writes, in the Ulyanovsk region the area of ​​overhead forest fires amounted to 57 hectares; they were extinguished by aviation. At the same time, it started to burn strongly there over the weekend. 16 thousand people were in the danger zone, several villages were under threat of destruction. And again it was discovered that local tenants did not have the necessary means to extinguish fires - the notorious motor pumps and fire engines, as well as anything else.

The city of Togliatti, Samara Region, was once again on fire, having already been seriously damaged by fire this summer. The city again declared the highest, fifth class of fire danger. In the region itself, 15 forest fires have been recorded in recent days. Emergency Situations Ministry employees went out to extinguish dry grass alone 70 times, the newspaper writes.

Perm was shrouded in smog (by the way, in Moscow on the morning of September 22, the smell of burning was clearly felt in some areas), visibility on the roads did not exceed 500 meters. The cause of the fire was peat bogs in the Krasnokamsk region of the region, 40 kilometers from Perm. Moreover, they have been smoldering for several months, but in recent days they have flared up especially strongly. Kommersant recalls that Perm was shrouded in smoke even in the summer. True, the press secretary of the local department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Valery Tiunov, claims that “we are not talking about a catastrophe like in Moscow” and there is no threat to populated areas. However, the local environmental management agency points to a peat bog that is burning right near the village of Danki.
