EXHIBITIONS
Pyotr Konchalovsky. Towards the evolution of the Russian avant-garde. A large-scale exhibition of works by Pyotr Petrovich Konchalovsky (1876--1956), one of the key figures of Russian culture of the last century, the leader of the “Jack of Diamonds”. The exhibition was organized on the eve of a significant date - the centenary of the first exhibition “Jack of Diamonds” (December 1910) and the creation of the society of the same name (1911), the chairman of which was P. Konchalovsky. In the perception of his contemporaries, his work was the embodiment of the principles of the painting school created by the masters of the “Jack of Diamonds”. Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane , until November 14.
Daniel Richter. Anti Away. The German artist combines various painting styles using cultural codes from the archives of art history, media and contemporary pop culture. The most striking feature of his work is that Richter places familiar images in a new, completely unusual and seemingly inappropriate context - surreal and eerie. The first personal exhibition in Russia presents both well-known works from the early 2000s and completely new works that will come to Moscow for the first time directly from the artist’s studio. Gallery "Regina" at "Winzavod" (4th Syromyatnichesky lane, 1, building 6), until November 17.
"Roger Ballen: Documentary Fiction." An exhibition of works by one of the most extravagant living classics of photography. He calls his works documentary fiction - an organic fusion of documentary, symbolism and abstract aesthetics. The “Furnished Rooms” series exhibited in Moscow is the fruit of Ballen’s almost five-year study of the very bottom of life - both in the usual everyday sense (in the frame the interiors of a real rooming house in the suburbs of Johannesburg and its inhabitants: runaway criminals, bankrupt gold miners, various asocial types), as well as in an existential sense. The photographer claims that working on the series confronted him with such dark sides of his own consciousness, the existence of which he had never previously suspected. These photographs, being technically staged, speak about life and the fractures of human destinies and psyches more than any direct documentation. “Winzavod”, Bottling Shop (4th Syromyatnichesky lane, 1, building 6), until November 28.
