The Russian Orthodox Church declares an intensive dialogue with Catholics and Protestants

In the Russian Orthodox Church, they are open to dialogue with other Christian communities, but they will not compromise in fundamental issues.

"We communicate very intensively since the 1960s with Catholics and Protestants, we have many joint projects, this dialogue weakened due to the fact that some Western churches began aggressive missionary work among Orthodox people in baptism, and we naturally did not agree with this," the head of the synodal department of the Church and Society, Protereriy Vsevolod Chaplin, answering questions during a meeting with students of the North-Eastern Federal University of Yakutsk today, Interfax reports.

According to him, now the dialogue is “quite intense with both Catholics and Protestants”, but the Russian Church is trying to evade “leaving the main thing for the secondary, and most importantly, this is the truth about God on which the eternal life of a person depends.”

“And now, to leave aside conversations and disputes about it for the sake of a secondary, for the sake of a well -fed and trouble -free life on Earth for the Orthodox Christian unnaturally,” the priest emphasized.

According to him, in the Moscow Patriarchate they do not agree that a number of Western churches, especially Protestant, liberal churches, "some of which can already be called post -Christian and the patient", fall under the influence of public and intellectual fashion. They come to things, which "absolutely certainly do not correspond to the way of life, the teachings and the image of the action of the Apostolic Church, which Christ himself created," said V. Chaplin.

This, he continued, and the wedding of homosexuals, and the ordination of the holy sang of women, including open lesbians, and "absolute relativism in the field of human personal morality." "With such a drift of some communities in the direction of absolute relativism, we do not agree and will always talk about this during our discussion with certain Christian or post -Christian communities," said Vsevolod Chaplin.

According to him, "in the field of morality, in the field of the positive influence of Christianity on the Russian Church with Catholics society, there are much closer than with liberal Protestants - there are still conservative Protestants, a separate conversation about them."

However, the clergyman emphasized, “theological differences with the Catholic Church, of course, remain,” and the “important meeting” is now taking place - the XII session of the mixed theological commission on the dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox churches, which these differences are discussed, including the issue of the pope of the Roman.
