Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi Nezhad called on the UN "to form an independent group to investigate the facts related to terrorist attacks on September 11, 2011." He stated this, speaking during the general political discussion at the 65th General Assembly (GA) of the UN.

Such an investigation, he believes, will allow you to take into account "and not prohibit various views" on what happened then, ITAR-TASS reports. "There are three versions of terrorist attacks on September 11 (2001)," said Ahmadi Nezhad.

One of them is the penetration of a powerful terrorist group into the territory of the United States, he pointed out. As a second version, Iranian President expressed the opinion that "some representatives of the US leadership themselves organized this crime to stop the fall of the American economy and strengthen influence in the Middle East."

In this regard, Ahmadi Nezhad indicated that in 2011 the conference on the study of terrorism and the means of combating it will be held in Iran. “I invite officials, thinkers, scientists to take part in the conference,” Iran president addressed the participants in the discussion.

The US State Department was not slow to react, calling the “disgusting and delusional” statements of the President of Iran about the involvement of the American government in the September 11th attacks.

"The day prohibits the development of nuclear weapons and calls for its reduction," the president recalled. “Nevertheless, take note,” he turned to the participants in the discussion, “that some of the permanent members of the UN Security Council, nuclear powers, equalized a bomb with nuclear energy, and therefore did not give it to most states, exerting pressure on the IAEA.”

“At the same time, they plan to preserve, expand and improve their nuclear arsenals,” he said, bringing the United States as an example. “And this means not only that nuclear disarmament is not achieved, but also that the spread of nuclear weapons continues,” the president emphasized.

“In this regard, I would like to suggest that 2011 be proclaimed a year of nuclear disarmament and nuclear energy for everyone,” said Mahmud Ahmadi Nezhad.
