The European Court of Switzerland received a complaint against a frequent bell ringing

A resident of the Swiss city of St. Gallen appealed to the European Court of Human Rights with a complaint to the local church due to its frequent bell ringing, the portal "Orthodoxy.ru" reports with reference to "World Radio".

According to the man, the bells of the local church call every 15 minutes and prevent him from sleeping.

He had already filed a complaint with this church in the federal court of Lausanne, as well as to the court of Canton Zurich, but both of these instances refused to consider his complaint.

A resident of St. Gallene is not the only one with similar claims.

In 2007, the municipality of the Dutch city of Tilburg imposed a fine of 5 thousand euros on the rector of the Catholic Church of the Holy Margarita Priest Harma Schilder for a loud bell ringing, which sounded early in the morning, which created inconvenience to the townspeople living nearby.

In 2008, residents of the British city of Oldborough complained to the city council that the bells of the local Anglican church, in their opinion, produce too much noise. Meanwhile, according to the abbot of this church, its bells have been blessed every second Sunday for 500 years, and over all these years there has not yet been a single complaint by local residents.

In August last year, near the port city of spices in northern Italy, the rector of the local church had to drown out the bells due to a complaint of a tourist who was interfered with a loud bell ringing in the morning. However, the locals did not reconcile with this and in the shortest possible to ensure that the bells of this church rang again.

In 2009, the bishop of one of the Protestant churches in the American state of Arizona was sentenced to a conditional prison term for a bell ringing. The court in the city of Phoenix ruled that the ringing of the bells of the cathedral in honor of Christ violated the peace of citizens.
