Musical report (Kaliningrad)

This year, declared by UNESCO by the year of Chopin, concerts of famous Polish musicians were the most vivid events of the Kaliningrad autumn.

Evgenia Romanova : Surely, on October 9, absolutely all Chopin music lovers could envy Kaliningraders. On this day, a concert of the outstanding Polish pianist Yanush Oleinichak was held in the Cathedral of the Arts Festival of Arts "Baltic Seasons". As one of the events of Chopin, the concert was initiated by the Consulate General of the Republics of Poland in Kaliningrad. And this is just one of the Polish cultural initiatives of this year. Says the Consul General of the Republics of Poland in Kaliningrad Marek Golkovsky:

Marek Golkovsky : Our master, I’m not afraid to say this word, Janusz Oleinichak, who was the laureate of the Frederick Chopin contest, is one of those people who simply show the road how to play Chopin. Because there is also some kind of style in which it is necessary to perform from afar, from which you do not need to walk so that Chopin remains a chopen.

Yanush Oleinichak : I do not play as divine, I play as I can. But I myself admit that it is quite natural for me. I think that in any field of art you can learn something and engage in this art. But the most important thing is what is impossible to learn, it just needs to have in yourself, possess it.

Evgenia Romanova : As for the fact that he plays not divinely at all, let us disagree with the musician. Here is a quote from a review of one of the concerts of Janusz Oleinichak: "In order to play Chopin, apparently, you must be a Pole and play only him." The musician had a chance to play Frederic Chopin in the cinema - in the film by Andrzei Zhulavsky "Farewell note".

Yanush Oleinichak : When they ask me about what kind of music I love, I never talk about Chopne, because it is natural that he is one for me one. The rest are Beethoven, Ravel, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, etc. But always, when I play in the hall independently, because it is good or bad, what kind of acoustics in it, which instrument, I give myself completely completely. It is difficult for me to evaluate how it turns out. Probably differently. But I always make maximum efforts to convey everything that I feel. This is not some kind of life principle there, it is simply natural for me.

Evgenia Romanova : Another outstanding Polish musician, whose concert will please Kaliningraders by the Consulate General of Poland and the regional Philharmonic this fall, this is Adam Makovich - the legend of world jazz, a pianist -virtuoso and a brilliant improviser. Adam Makovich received a musical education in Poland, jazz played here in the 60-70s. In 1977, at the invitation of Benny Gudman, a concert tour of the United States performed. He remained there and gained worldwide recognition. Another fact from the biography of the musician: because of his love for Jazz, Adam Makovich at the age of 15 left his parental house.

Adam Makovich : In the mid-50s of the last century, the attitude to jazz was promoted to something bad that will be in a person evil instincts. After the death of Stalin, the thaw began, it became a little easier, but the stereotypes in the minds of people still remained. They treated jazz with neglect and caution. And my parents did not want me to fall under the influence of this music. I could not count on my parents' help, because I had my own personal ambitions, and my age did not allow me to earn a living myself. And I wandered. Of course, then, when my name became known in Poland, they accepted me as I am. And I am very grateful to them for this.

Evgenia Romanova : For the second year in a row, Adam Makovich includes Kaliningrad in his annual European concert tour. Last fall as part of the Jazz International Festival in the Philharmonic, he performed the music of Frederick Chopin in jazz interpretation. This fall, Johann Sebastian Bach will be in the unique improvisational manner of Adam Makovich.

Adam Makovich : All classic works are the same improvisation. And Mozart, which is rhythmic as well as Bach. Mozart is still improvisation only it is recorded in strict form. It is structured, schematical and recorded on paper, but the work as such is an improvisation of the author, the improvisation of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt. This is a way of designing a musical idea and a way to vest variation in some form.

Marek Golkovsky : I do not want to say that we, Poles, should always be the first. But it so happened that Adam Makovich really is one of the first pianoists in the world, one of the first jazzmen of the world. He is very modest. When the question of his concert in Kaliningrad went, he agreed. And immediately after this concert, he agreed to repeat his being here after a year in Kaliningrad. He was passionate about the Kaliningrad public, level, concept of music. He was carried away simply immediately, from the first tactes of music, when the hall reacted to him. He himself leads a concert. This is still an element of the show there.

Evgenia Romanova : But this is not all. With the assistance of the Consulate General of Poland in Kaliningrad, as part of the upcoming Jazz International Festival in the Philharmonic, another famous Polish jazz pianist - Leshek Mozher.
