"Petrikgate" walks along the planet

Journalists, scientists and engineers who have signed the document, including experts in the field of water supply, call on the head of government Vladimir Putin to conduct a public examination of the state of the industry. President Dmitry Medvedev, in their opinion, should instruct the Prosecutor General’s Office to conduct an audit of Petrik’s activities, and the prosecutor general of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika - “prohibit the operation of“ Petrika Nanofilters! ” and water treatment systems on the basis of the USR (its mixtures and, possibly, their imitation) established in the Novgorod region and other regions of the Russian Federation, ” as well as give a legal assessment of the inaction of the prosecutor's office of the Novgorod region, the administrations of the Novgorod region and Veliky Novgorod, the Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in connection with the ongoing operation of the Petrik filters. The authors of the appeal are asking for support from the State Duma deputies, participants in the Pure Water forum, Russian and international human rights and environmental organizations.

“No less seriousness for the health of citizens not only in Russia, but also the CIS, India, Vietnam, and other countries where the so -called“ Petrika filters ”and“ water treatment systems ”are used or planned,” the text of the letter says.

The Pure Water project, launched in 2006 at the initiative of United Russia, provided for the multimillion -dollar expenses for the widespread introduction of Petrik's inventions. This year, after exposing publications and the conclusion of the RAS Commission, financing of the Pure Water program was cut to 3 billion rubles. per year.

Meanwhile, in October, a lawsuit began on the claim of the Society for the Protection of Consumer Rights with a demand to ban Petrik's filters. The inventor himself at the first meeting in the Perovsky District Court did not appear. The hearing was postponed to November 9th. The court is going to appoint an examination of “nanofilters”. The plaintiffs refer to the results of an independent examination, according to which these filters make water unsuitable for drinking.

Petrik, in turn, suits journalists who exposed him and announced his intention to sue the academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences Eduard Kruglyakov, Evgeny Alexandrov and Vladimir Zakharov. According to Petrik, he was subjected to "directed shilming, monstrous insults and the systematic destruction of the achieved results of scientific and inventive activity."
