From the editorial office. On November 4, the country once again celebrates the Day of National Unity. As sociological surveys show, most Russians still do not understand what such is celebrated on this day. Many are still confused in his name. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the holiday, which was supposed to translate the values of patriotism in Russian society, was expropriate for domestic nationalists. About the reasons for such an inattentive attitude of Russians towards the Day of National Unity, the activity of nationalists on this day and the weakness of liberals on the day of November 4, the politician Daria Mitina told the Russian magazine.
* * *
The population of Russia still celebrates on the seventh of November, not the fourth. Even attempts by the authorities to instill this holiday through the transformation on November 4 on a weekend, and the seventh was not successful in the worker. I worked both in private structures and in state. Both there and there, everyone celebrates the seventh number, namely the holiday of the great October.
The causes of idiosyncrazia of Russians by November 4 lie on the surface. Firstly, the date itself is unsuccessfully chosen . The events of the beginning of the 17th century are so far from a modern citizen of Russia, they are so historically discursive that the people simply poorly understand what is being discussed. In the four centuries that have passed since the "Time of Troubles" in Russia, a lot of other things happened. And on November 7, this is still an event of a more or less nearest story.
Secondly, this is an attempt to equate historical events that are incomparable in scale. The Great October is an event of the scale of not Russian, but planetary. No other historical event has changed the appearance of the planet. As a result, the Day of the October Revolution is not a Russian holiday, not a little town, which they want to make a day of popular unity. The anniversary of October is celebrated, among other things, in those countries that are very far from the celebration of the idea of socialism. These are the countries of Asia and Africa. By the way, contrary to the forecasts of Russian revolutionary theorists, Lenin, for example, believed that the world revolution would begin in Asia, but it began in Europe. Despite the fact that all European revolutions, except for the Russian, were suppressed, the ruling classes made conclusions for themselves. These conclusions were transformed into the social context in which current Europe lives, the so -called Golden Billion countries. It was precisely the “social state”, for the preservation of which the working class is now struggling, for example, France is the result of the conquests of the great October. The ruling class of capitalist countries was so frightened by the scope of revolutionary events in Russia, and most importantly, the efficiency with which the Bolshevik party, which totaled a little more than 20 thousand, managed to achieve the authorities, which introduced an 8-hour working day, equalized everyone in electoral rights, laid the foundations of the pension system and social security system. Often, opponents of October say that the February Revolution would be enough. But, in fact, it was impossible to confine themselves to February. The February Revolution solved the problems of only the king and the royal family. More transformations did not affect anyone. All the main transformations were carried out precisely by the Bolsheviks.
Nevertheless, on November 4, it is positioned as a kind of general patriotic day. Of course, the Day of National Unity is the date in itself is good and holy in its own way. And personally, I have no prejudice against the date itself, since it does not carry any negative coloring. Only the fact that this holiday was introduced was introduced into peak on November 7, naturally caused some irritation. In order for this holiday to take root, so that people are used to it, so that people have a festive biorhythm for many years.
So very many Soviet holidays did not take root either. Then there were also a lot of all sorts of dates that are not noted now. As pre -revolutionary holidays and some church holidays do not celebrate now. That is, in principle, in order to understand whether this day is something for a person or not, it takes at least 20-30 years, it is necessary to grow up a new generation. Then let's see and draw conclusions, summarize.

It is noteworthy that our people who are very fond of every weekend and holidays even when on November 7 was still a day off, but was no longer considered a holiday, people, by tradition, went out if not at the demonstration, but for some kind of festivities. That is, the Day of the October Revolution was still perceived as a holiday and, as a result, everyone's mood was raised. And no matter how the authorities tried to give the tragic appearance on November 7, the red day of the calendar always remained red, and people rejoiced at this. Now, part of the population of Russia goes to other festivities. She goes to the "Russian March".
This event is very heterogeneous in composition of the participants and the composition of the organizers. Of course, I understand why it is carried out, and how it arose. It is no secret that the last 20 years the Russian nation has felt infringed. The indigenous population was put in a position somewhat vulnerable, which was simply nowhere to go. However, it is very alarming that healthy nationalism, which is more often called patriotism, has the ability to degenerate into nationalism unhealthy, that is, chauvinism. Patriotism and love for their homeland, for their people are normal, and there is nothing reprehensible in this. But when this love is realized at the expense of other peoples - this is bad. So the “Russian march” in support of the interests of the Russian population is good, but if extremist slogans are promoted, this is already bad. It should be noted that the line here is very thin, and some manage to not cross it, and some fail. That is why I have a very different attitude towards those who participate in the “Russian march”.
Of course, completely harmless and honest patriots participate in it, whose role I would appreciate positively. But the columns of the "Russian march" consist not only of them. There are completely destructive, simply socially dangerous elements and organizations. These are those people who, of nationalist considerations, cut people, kill them. The nationalism of these criminal elements is not ideological, nationalism for them is a cover of criminal inclinations. Such people do not care who to kill: Jews, Caucasians, anti -fascists, or just intellectuals with glasses. This is such a stupid, completely brutal, destructive force, but it appears under nationalist slogans. This is bad, because they are vulgarized by patriotism, discredit sane nationalists, who also go to “Russian marches”.
If I were a representative of the authorities, I would never forbid Russian march. It must be resolved, but if other demonstrations are not prohibited. After all, any ban casts a shadow on the one who initiated this ban. That is why the “Russian march” should be legal, but it is important to ensure the safety of its conduct, the safety of ordinary passers -by, which meet with the columns of nationalists. After all, when some clashes occur on the “Russian march”, this is, first of all, the fault of power.
