The creator of Netscape morally and financially supported the developers of the browser to work on social networks

Rockmelt began limited beta testing of the same browser, created as a tool for interacting with social web services, primarily with Facebook and Twitter, Vesti.ru report.

The founders of the company are Eric Vishria and Tim Haus, ex-heads of OPSware, sold in 2007 by the Hewlett-Packard corporation for $ 1.6 billion. Active support for the project is provided by Mark Andreessen, one of the creators of the Netscape Navigator observer and a member of the developers of the first mass browser of Mosaic, the compulsion notes.

RockMelt is based on the Chromium open source platform (it uses the Google Chrome browser). User settings are stored in the network "cloud", so that all individual parameters can be quickly reproduced on any computer with an installed RockMelt observer (after registration on Facebook).

On both sides of the central window in which the web pages are loaded, two rows with icons are located: the user's friends are displayed in the left, and in the right - selected social sites.

The “Share” button (share) is installed in the upper part of the browser, with which you can easily “reload” the favorite web page on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or another popular service.

In addition, users can update their status right in the main browser window or track their friends in any social network. RockMelt also allows you to quickly add and delete friends, as well as communicate with them in a chat.

“If we knew about Facebook, Twitter and Google back in 1992 or 1993, we would have built them into the browser,” emphasizes Mark Andreessen.

Like most other programs for viewing Internet pages, Rockmelt will be distributed free of charge.
