Press Secretary of the Federal Migration Service Konstantin Poltoranin said that his agency “does not see any prospects for the further use of an internal passport.” In practice, this means that the institution of registration will actually be abolished. The first steps in this direction have already been taken - the official said that starting from the New Year, temporary registration will be of a notification nature. It can even be completed online.

It is unlikely that this innovation will be enthusiastically received by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The abolition of passports is a blow to one of the profitable trades of our law enforcement officers.
