| In the material about the possible closure of the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill (BPPM) “Vented Out the Resentment” (see “Vremya Novostei” on November 18) it was stated that the controlling stake in the enterprise belongs to the structures of Oleg Deripaska. The press secretary of the Basic Element company, owned by the billionaire, Sergei Babichenko insists that neither Basic Element nor other companies of the group have recently owned shares in BPPM. Now, Mr. Babichenko emphasized, the plant is under the control (50.09% of shares) of the Continental Invest company, which belongs to Mr. Deripaska’s former partner in the timber business, Nikolai Makarov. The state still owns 49% of the shares. | |
