Vertu introduced its first smartphone - Constellation Quest

The British company Vertu, a subsidiary of Nokia, producing luxury mobile phones from precious materials, introduced its first Vertu Constellation Quest smartphone, RIA Novosti reports. Earlier, Vertu, the leading world manufacturer in the segment of luxurious mobile phones, produced only cellular devices with a basic set of functions.

Vertu Constellation Quest will appear on sale in early 2011 at a price of 6 to 21.5 thousand euros, depending on the details of the case. For comparison: the most expensive model of the company - Boucheron Cobra - costs 217 thousand euros.

Vertu Constellation Quest is a manual assembly monoblock with a 2,36 inches VGA-screen with a hardware QWERTY-keyboard. The 3G mobile device is equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS interfaces, as well as a 5-megapixel camera, the lens of which is protected by a sapphire lining.

By tradition, Vertue does not chase at advanced technological innovations: its first smartphone operates under the Symbian 3.1 operating system, which is practically nothing other than the design of the previous generations installed in Nokia phone numbers.

“It is important that the technologies that are used in Vertu work without fail. The time should take the time to prove their reliability. As soon as this happens, we will definitely use them,” Vertu Hatch Hatchson, chief engineer of Vertu, told the agency, answering the question of why the outdated Symbian version was chosen as the operating system.

According to Khatchson, Vertu is understood as not so much a means of accessing convenient applications and advanced technologies as a complex of personal services with which Vertu can make the life of its customers easier and more comfortable.

So, the device has implemented a remote administration system. If the user is confused in the interface or overdo it with the settings, he can call the technical support service by pressing a special button. Its employees will quickly set up the device and correct errors, remotely connecting to the phone right in front of the client’s eyes.

Together with the luxury smartphone, the user will gain access to free OVI Maps cards and a navigation program, a protected e-mail account and a company concierge service Vertu (a personal telephone service, with which the owner of the Vertu apparatus can, for example, book a hotel and solve other domestic problems, being in the largest cities of the world).
