Oleg Kashin’s beaten journalist Oleg Kashin was performed and soon transferred to traumatology, Oleg Varnavin, deputy chief physician for anesthesiology and resuscitation of the 36th city hospital, said on Tuesday.

"Today, Oleg made a planned surgery aimed at stabilizing the bones of the right lower leg. The operation was successful," said Varnavin, quoted by Interfax quoted.

He noted that today Kashin "will conduct anesthesiology and resuscitation in the department for observation and continuing therapy." Then he will be transferred to the department of traumatology.

The affected journalist previously wrote about the upcoming operation in his Twitter . In the message, he noted that there will be "more than a day without any connection." Prior to this, Kashin had already been performed on the jaw, to restore the phalanges of the fingers, several more operations.

Last Friday, acting Viktor Duganov, deputy chief medical part of the 36th hospital, told reporters that Kashin’s treatment would take at least two to three weeks. So far, only relatives and investigators visit him, who first interrogated him in the past Wednesday.

Oleg Kashin was brutally beaten by two unknown people on the night of November 6 near his house on Pyatnitskaya Street in Moscow. With severe injuries, he was hospitalized. The journalist was broken by the jaw, lower leg and fingers. After the operation, he was introduced into an artificial one. On the fact of the attack on the journalist, a criminal case was opened under part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder by a group of persons), which provides for up to 20 years in prison. President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Rashid Nurgaliev to take on special control and take all measures to disclose the assassination attempt, and on November 8 stated that the involved in the crime would be found and punished regardless of their status.
