The head of Roscosmos Anatoly Perminov ordered the activation of two reserve satellites Glonass-M, who are in orbit, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Perminov himself. According to the head of the department, one of the satellites with the help of their own engines is already advanced to the calculated point of the orbit. After correction, it will be completely ready to work.
Two reserve satellites were included after the loss of three devices on December 5. For sure the reasons not yet established by the reasons, the Proton launch vehicle, which had to bring the last satellites into orbit, deviated from a given trajectory, after which the accelerated block went into an open orbit and sank in the Pacific Ocean. There were no victims and destruction in the fall of satellites. They sank at 1500 kilometers northwest of the Hawaiian islands.
As probable versions of the incident, errors in mathematical support were called (incorrect calculations could be loaded into the board computer) or an excess of the mass of the accelerated unit, where the ton of “excess” fuel could be flooded. A special commission to clarify the causes of the incident plans to complete its work by December 20.
