The deputies of the Ivanovo City Duma decided to rename the militants Street into Yakov Garelin Street, Interfax reports.
The Street of the militants is located in the Oktyabrsky district of the city, in the town of Khutorovo. Since 1915, it was called the 1st Grachevskaya - in honor of the Grachevs manufacturers, but in 1927 it was renamed the militants Street - in honor of the Bolshevik combat squad, who spent their exercises in the neighboring forest in 1905-1907.
At a meeting of the City Duma, it was noted that the members of the Ivanovo Regional Public Chamber spoke with the initiative to appropriate this street named after the Ivanovo Mediaman Garelin.
“There will be no negative consequences for citizens related to the replacement of title documents,” said Sergey Morozov, deputy chairman of the City Duma.
The decision will come into force 10 days after its publication in the press.
