
Dmitry Medvedev’s letter was sent to Minsk with congratulations to the newly elected President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Natalya Timakova, spokeswoman for the head of the Russian state, told reporters on Saturday.
"Given the officially published figures of the CEC of Belarus, the report of the head of the Russian Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov on the conclusions of observers, this letter was sent," Timakova said.
The press service of the head of the Belarusian state told Interfax that the corresponding message from the President of the Russian Federation Lukashenko received last Friday.
The Central Election Commission of Belarus was confirmed by the final victory of Lukashenko in the election. As reported, presenting the final numbers, the Secretary of the CEC Nikolai Lozovik, 79.65% of voters voted for Lukashenko.
