Kooman movie. Option-2010. The second December in a row, The New Times publishes the subjective ten best films of the outgoing season according to its film recreation. This time in the top ten, as many as twelve paintings: 6th and 7th places are divided between films, the style and themes of which are a little echoing. By tradition, we focused not on American, but on European rental, part of which, and significant, became Russian. Films of 2010 are the affordable ordinary European audience in the past year, even if the premieres took place in America or at separate film festivals in 2009. Alas, Katherine Bigelou, who, having come to us in January, had a great late. Europe appreciated it last year, and at festivals it started in the midpassed 2008. On the other hand, we did not consider the paintings that are now the main prizes for 2010 from various guilds of American critics and, obviously, will become the favorites of the new “Oscar” race: “Black Swan” Darren Aronofsky, “Real Courage” of Ethan and Joel Cohen, “127 hours” Denny Boyle, “fighter” David O. Russell, “King says!” Tom Huper - they can’t look anywhere except in the USA and Canada. For Europe, these are films of 2011. “Real courage”, for example, will solemnly open the Berlin Film Festival in February.

So, a dozen 2010. As usual, the rating is published in the reverse order, from 10th place to the 1st. The author tried to answer three questions:

1 What is the film about?
2 What is it good?
3 What was the resonance? "Beginning", USA - Great British, Christopher Nolan * 1. * A film about a group of industrial spies from the future, led by the character DiCaprio, who learned to steal information from the brain of the necessary people during sleep. For this, the group also has to plunge into the virtual world of sleep. A new difficult task is not to steal information, but, on the contrary, introduce an idea into the subconscious of the ordered person, which, if he reproduces it in reality, will help competitors destroy his business empire.

2. The Englishman Christopher Nolan (“Remember”, “Insomnia”, “Batman: Beginning”, “Prestige”, “The Dark Knight”), along with New Zealand, Peter Jackson belongs to those unique directors who are able to shoot films simultaneously filmmaken and super cash. “Beginning” is an intellectual film, a puzzle, and incredibly inventive. The heroes plunge into three different, closely intertwined sleep levels, and the conflict of sleep, say, the second level, can suddenly reflect on the details of the third sleep. The only trouble is that the denouement (the protagonist is in wait for the temptation to spend the rest of his life in a happy oblivion, but he prefers him a harsh, but reality) is expected and predictable.

3. 6th line in the list of the best films of all time on the main filmmaker website www.imdb.com. 24th line in the table of the most box office tapes of all time. The film is included in the five most discussed events in 2010 in world social networks.

"Mr. Nobody", Canada - Belgia - France - Hermania, Jaco Van Dormmel

Another film about a 120-year-old old man who at the end of the 21st century remained the only person on the planet born naturally and now gathering to leave for another world as naturally. All others around are clones. This last old man does not remember either his name or the past. And when they begin to crack it with the help of hypnosis, it gives out something strange: as if he had several families in parallel.

Most likely, the film by Belgian Jaco Van Dormel, whom the filmmakers suspected of talent after the picture of the early 1990s “Toto-hero”, that a person is constantly in a state of choice: where to go, what family to adopt, whom to love. The film is that any choice is accidental, because you could be hesitated for a second-and because of this, your whole life has acquired a different direction. The fact that we are constantly making incorrect decisions. And if we pause for thinking, then we lose even more, because someone takes the decision for us.

The Last Sunday, Germany -Russia - Greatbrin, Michael Hoffman Kinoistoria about the last months of Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy’s life, his relationship with his wife Sofia Andreevna, his famous tragic departure from his family, his death, intrigues around his condition, about Tolstoyeans and ideological contradictions between his last secretaries Vladimir Chertkov and Chertkov. Two best American social paintings in 2010. “Network” is about the contradictory career of the creator of the most successful world social network Facebook Mark Zuckerberg. The “city of thieves” is about a different level, which also determines the careers and fate: about the outskirts of Boston Charlesstone, from where the world's largest number of famous banks robbers came.

Psychological, emotional, economic, political, legal detail, opening eyes to how people live. From Fincher (“Seven”, “Game”, “Fight Club”, “The mysterious story of Benjamin Batton”) We always expect discoveries. But the fact that Affleck, who seemed at one time to the usual Hollywood Jappy, becomes a real filmmaker (see his most worthy film, “Farewell, Baby, Farewell”) is a pleasant discovery.

The “social network” now receives almost all the main prizes from the guilds of American critics. It is considered the favorite of the coming Oscar. The “city of thieves” also has a worthy reputation.

"Kochegar", Russia, Alexey Balabanov
"My happiness", Germany - Ukrainian -Niserlands, Sergey Loznitsa

Two hard views on provincial Russia, indifferent to someone else's grief and someone else's blood. It doesn’t matter that the action of the “Kochegar” takes place in St. Petersburg (on the screen is not noticeable) - provincials still act in it.

“Kochegar” is the quintessence of the style and thereby Balabanov. Almost all of his films are about timelessness. Like almost everything - this is a parable that cruel injustice necessarily gives rise to a noble fury and thirst for revenge in the human soul. “My happiness” is the debut film of the famous documentaryist of the Loznitsa. The worst thing in it is the scene of a market party in the square of some provincial place. It is clear that the personnel are real. A huge number of fixed persons. Not a single sober. Not a single reasonable one. Not a single good. The filing and degrading in the provinces of the nation. Similar - not Russophobic, but honest and patriotic - the verdict of the uglies of the country and the nation, before only Balabanov in the “cargo 200”.

3. “Kochegar”: a special prize of the jury at the Vyborg festival, the three main “white elephants” (including the best film of the year and the best directing) are prizes of the National Prize of Film Critics and Cinema Parts. “My happiness”: a number of awards in the open spaces of the CIS, participation in the competition program of the festival in Cannes.

"Lebanon", Israel - France - Livan - Germania, Shmuel Maoz

The film about Israeli tankers, who were sent in 1982 to a military operation in Lebanon. Tankers are promised that the day will be easy. Yeah.

In Israel, they loved making films about the Lebanese War, which salt on wounds and ashes on his head, recall the famous “Waltz with Bashir”. But “Lebanon” is interesting not as specifically historical, but as a military cinema in general, and the avant -garde. The action does not leave the insides of the tank, in which the four main characters are located. They see the war and the world exclusively through the sight or the frame allotted to the driver. The film shows that the concept of “tactics” is meaningful in a modern war. In the Klaustophobic world of the tank, no one understands anything. Where are your own, where strangers are not to make out. They shoot at random - from hysteria. They regret the killers. Destroy the innocent. Meaningless bloody mess.

The main prize is the “Golden Leo” of Venice 2009.

"Ghost", France - Hermania - Greatbrin, Roman Polansky

The main character is the “spoke writer” (this is what the film is called in the original), that is, the literary Negro, earning that he composes books for famous people to whom the major publishing house proposed to edit the memoirs of the former British Prime Minister. In the film, he is clearly associated with Tony Blair. As soon as he took up the order, the writer understands that the matter is extremely dangerous. And that in the draft of memoirs, which was originally engaged in another “Negro” (whose corpse has long been in the morgue), a certain bomb was encrypted.

Polansky shot old-fashioned cinema in the spirit of political, exposing the CIA of American films of the 1970s such as “Domino Principle” or “Three Days of Condor”. The “Ghost” pays tribute to the semi -forgotten genre of the smart, while a very interesting and ironic thriller for a serious audience. It is curious that Polansky, making a “ghost”, was guided by personal motives. At the time of the release of the film, at the request of the American authorities, he was arrested in Switzerland. And as if anticipating such a turn of events, he demonstrated in the “Ghost” that he did not like the games of the American special services and authorities.

"Sherlock Holmes", USA - Germania, Guy Richie

About how Holmes and Watson met and opened the first joint business. If you believe that this is a film adaptation “red in white”, then you are mistaken. This film is almost mystical.

Deep fidelity to the character is observed. Holmes here is a connoisseur of everything that relates to science and crime. He is a rationalist to the brain of bones, which allows him to unravel a difficult matter, which initially seems after the afterlife. The most important thing: he is charming. It is much more charming and boring dry-foam-holms from old American film adaptations and the new British television Holms, thrown into modernity, in series about which (those who have raised this summer, we had recently put us in the first channel.

Two minor nominations for Oscar. "Golden Globe" to Robert Dauni-Ml. For the best performance of a male role in a musical or comedy.

"Lourd", Austria - France -Hermania, Jessica Hauser

The history of pilgrims in the French town of Lurd, which serves as one of the Catholic Meccs, because there, according to legend, the Virgin Mary once showed herself. According to other legends, in Lourda you can recover from everything and everything. For this reason, a paralyzed heroine comes there, who depicts a fantastic (long -known film acquaintances, but unknown to the mass public) French actress Silvi Testu. A miracle happens, which becomes a sensation for thousands of tourists-battleships: at some point it really gets to her feet.

The film easily and gracefully ironizes the tourist business based on religious beliefs. But this is not the main thing. “Lourder” is one of the thinnest films on the entity of man and human relationships. The situation is dangerous for the plot (whether a miracle or a heroine has a temporary remission that will again overturn it in paralysis, which is a hint of in the final) - and that is allowed with amazingly sensitive lack of core.

The highest praise of advanced critics at the 2009 Venice festival. At the same time, the film won there only unofficial awards, including the FIPSIES prize - the International Film Federation.

"Poetry", South Korea, Lee Chan Don

About a grandmother, who gradually learns that she has Alzheimer's disease and that her grandson-schoolboy was a member of the group, who regularly raped a classmate, as a result of which she committed suicide. Other parents of rapists are rich and offer to pay off the accusations. Grandma has to solve the problem where to find exorbitant money. And at the same time answer the question: is this world good or bad? And how to find words in order to fix good and bad, especially since the words disappear from memory due to illness.

Lee Chan Don is one of the most amazing directors of our time. If the Kim Ki Duk known to many is a Korean movie for export, then Chan Don is an original Korean movie. Having watched his films “Oasis”, “Mint candy”, “Secret radiance” (inquisitive fans of the director find them on the Internet), you are amazed at his courage and humanity: he has enough spirit and tact to raise topics on the verge of spiritual and carnal, life and death and not fall into moralizing banality.

A modest prize for the best script in Cannes 2010. In other layouts in the jury, “Poetry” could have received the main prize of the Main World Film Festival.
