The American company Advanced Optical Systems introduced the AirPrint device, reading the fingerprint of a person at a distance of two meters. The company promises that in the third quarter of this year two devices will go on sale: one simpler (with a scanner for one finger), the second is more complicated and more expensive (for the whole palm).
Airprint is equipped with a source of polarized light and two chambers for 1.3 megapixels, capturing the light of various polarization.
The grooves on the finger are reflected horizontally polarized light, and the grooves are vertically polarized. The return reflection of the hand is processed by a computer program that builds a fingerprint and compares it with the database.
The picture in the usual visible range would not be so clear, - the inventors explain. Airprint scans the finger within one tenth second., And to identify the personality, the program needs about four seconds.
So far, the device can build an image of only one finger, but by April, the developers promise to cover the whole palm, reports Membrane.ru with reference to Technology Review . Another drawback, which, also should soon be fixed, is that the hand should be at a certain distance from the device, that is, a person needs to stand motionless.
Be that as it may, the current development is a significant step forward. Now the identity of the personality by unique drawings on the fingers can be carried out from a considerable distance.
The brainchild of Advanced Optical has already been interested in some special services, as well as ordinary organizations who want to speed up the auto -branch process.
