Italian Police: We arrested not the brother of Dokarov Umarov

Representatives of the Italian authorities denied reports that in the city of Metro, on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities, 35-year-old Ruslan Umarov, who came to the leader of Chechen separatists Dokarov, was detained, RIA Novosti reports. Sources in the prefecture of the North Italian province of Goricia reported that a foreigner detained at the railway station in Mustro, placed in the center for the temporary detention of illegal immigrants in the town of Gradisk, is not Ruslan Umarov.

After clarifying the personality of the detainee, it turned out that we are talking about a citizen of Tajikistan, whom only age unites with Umarov's brother. In the near future, this person, who does not have documents, should be sent to Tajikistan in accordance with Italian legislation.

Doku Umarov is known as the leader of the Chechen militants. According to media reports, he is the organizer of the school capture in Beslan in September 2004. In addition, Umarov announced his responsibility for explosions in the Moscow metro in March last year.

“Who is Ruslan Umarov? I personally can’t say good or bad - I can’t say about him,” the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov commented on the detention in Italy. “I don’t know him. For the first time, the name of Ruslan Umarova surfaced in March 2005, Kommersant notes. Then the site "Caucasus-Center" announced the disappearance of three relatives of Dok Umarov-his brother Ruslan, nephew of Zaurbek and 70-year-old Father Humid. “Ruslan Umarov was captured in Ingushetia in February 2005 and is located on a military base in Hankal,” the ex -deputy of Ichkeria Selim Behaev, who was living in France, confirmed then. Later, in an interview with the Radio station "Freedom" about the abduction of his father, brother and nephew, Dokur Umarov himself also stated. According to him, the "direct performers of the abduction" were employees of the Chechen special forces. In the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic and the headquarters of the United Group of Troops in the North Caucasus, these words were called "Lozh".

Regarding Ruslan Umarov, the Chechen security officials were right. If the fate of Father Dokarov is still unknown, then two of his older brother, including Akhmad Umarov, who, in June 2008, voluntarily surrendered to the Chechen authorities, according to some information, are abroad. “I voluntarily came to Ramzan Kadyrov, believing him to appeal to the participants of illegal armed groups, his guarantees of security,” Akhmad Umarov explained the reason for his delivery. “My brother has my own life, I have my own, and I am responsible for my actions.” It was assumed that through Akhmad Umarov it would be possible to persuade Doku Umarov to surrender.
