
The second day in Egypt has a large influx of customers in the branches of private and state banks, which opened on Sunday after a long break, RIA Novosti reports.
At the same time, most currency exchange points are still closed, despite the fact that their employees continue to go to work.
“Everyone is waiting for the situation with the pound course to become clear,” explained an employee of one of the exchange points in the city center. At the same time, at the Cairo International Airport, exchange offices work as usual.

On Monday, the Egyptian pound course in relation to the main world currencies decreased somewhat, approaching an important psychological mark of six pounds per dollar. So? In the middle of the day, 5.945 Egyptian pounds were given for the dollar, according to National Bank of Egypt. Before the crisis, the rate was 5.83 Egyptian pounds per dollar.
Currently, only part of the bank branches are working in Egypt in connection with fears for their safety. As expected, the Egyptian banking system will work in full force next week.
So far, restrictions on cash withdrawal are maintained - 10 thousand dollars, or 50 thousand Egyptian pounds per day.
There are no restrictions on the transfer of cashless funds abroad. However, according to Bank of Alexandria, after the opening of banks, most bank transfers were inside the country.
Egypt has not yet calculated losses from unrest caused by political instability. According to foreign experts, the country's economy is losing at least $ 300 million due to the crisis. It is believed that in the field of tourism, the country lost at least $ 1 billion, as the riots were taken to flight about a million tourists.
