On February 17, the youth movement “Nashi” won a lawsuit against the Federation of Car Owners of Russia (FAR) and the online publication Gazeta.ru. This is reported on the movement's website. The Savyolovsky Court of Moscow decided that the organizations must pay Nashi more than 130 thousand rubles.

In addition, the defendants must refute previously published information about the Stopham campaign. The reason for the lawsuit was the material “Red stickers against blue buckets” published by Gazeta.ru in June 2010. It described an action that took place in Moscow, during which activists of the Nashi movement pasted stickers on the windshields of illegally parked cars with the inscription “I don’t care about anyone, I park as I want.”

The actions of the participants in the “Stopham” protest were described in the material as hooliganism. The text also contained comments from FAR representatives. Nashi activists considered the publication unverified and slanderous and filed a lawsuit. Nashi’s statement says that the movement will use the amount received through the court to distribute “I don’t take bribes” and “I don’t give bribes” stickers among traffic police officers and car owners.

Representatives of the FAR told the Interfax agency that they would appeal the court's decision. The editors of Gazeta.ru stated that they consider such court decisions to be directed against the main function of journalism - reflecting current events. The publication's editor-in-chief, Mikhail Kotov, noted that he sees no point in appealing the verdict.
