Evil is not in Putin’s palaces, but in hundreds of billions of rubles, which are beautifully burning before our eyes in the Olympic flame

The so-called Putin Palace in Gelendzhik is dust, trifle and vanity of vanities against the backdrop of what is happening and will happen with the Olympic venues and their financing. It’s just that some respected businessmen close to the authorities decided to build a palace, 30% of which would go to the Presidential Administration (according to the papers published by Novaya Gazeta), and 70% to the respected businessmen themselves.

This is a simple and understandable story. Respected people wanted to give a gift, so to speak, to their superior comrades. But in 2008 the money ran out. Contractors and partners began talking to the media. It smelled fried. As a result, the unfinished building was bought by a man (pictured) with a first and last name that doesn’t tell us much, but who is close to Arkady Rottenberg, which says a lot. The question is closed, and, in fact, there is nothing like that now. They’ll finish the construction, won’t give it as a gift, because giving something like that is shameful, they’ll use it themselves and invite guests. Whoever they want will be invited.

In Sochi everything is much bigger. Old Soviet boarding houses of the same UD are being reconstructed at crazy prices, which are cheaper to demolish than to renovate. Even the Accounts Chamber cannot figure out the Olympic budget. For two years now they have been asking the government to give all Olympic money a special budget classification, but no one is doing this, and to the estimate of half a trillion rubles (only for 2011-2013) it is necessary to add about another hundred billion budget or VEB money, which is not seen in the Civil Code "Olympstroy". The money of the state corporation itself wanders through bank deposits, violating all possible, including Olympstroy’s own, norms and regulations.

“Putin’s Palace” is somehow beautiful and sonorous. Here is Putin, here is the palace: they are fooling the people, they themselves live in mansions, they are on guard. But evil is not in Putin's palaces. The evil is in hundreds of billions of rubles, which are beautifully burning before our eyes in the Olympic flame. And in those palaces that the stokers had already chosen for themselves in places far from the Black Sea coast.
