Searches are being carried out in the prefecture of the Central District of the capital and district administrations. As RBC was informed in the prefecture of the Central Administrative District, the building houses a joint group of the Main Investigation Directorate of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate for Moscow and the Directorate of the FSB of Russia for Moscow. The searches are related to thefts in the housing and communal services sector.

The group is working on previously filed cases against management companies in the district. The investigation team is currently reviewing documents and conducting interviews. Prefect Sergei Baidakov ordered his subordinates to provide maximum assistance to the investigation.

According to the head of the information and public relations department of the Moscow Main Internal Affairs Directorate, Viktor Biryukov, employees of the main investigation department at the capital's Main Internal Affairs Directorate conducted searches in the Central Administrative District prefecture due to the fact that one of the management companies was not elected by the residents of the houses it served, but was appointed by an employee of one of the departments districts.

This management company received money to carry out business work, but did not carry it out. A number of criminal cases have been initiated based on this fact, one of which is under Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of authority).

On March 15, the head of the Presidential Control Directorate, Konstantin Chuychenko, reported to Dmitry Medvedev about billions of dollars in thefts in the housing and communal services sector. He told the Russian leader that in the Central Federal District alone, 25 billion rubles were transferred abroad over two years.

In this regard, D. Medvedev demanded that governors dismiss the heads of those municipalities in which fraud was discovered. The president believes that regional heads should dismiss municipal leaders if facts of money being transferred abroad or registration of shell companies come to light.

It should be noted that last year, in a number of regions and cities, utility bills for heat and water increased sharply (in some cases the increase was tens of percent), which caused discontent among the population. The situation became so tense that Dmitry Medvedev intervened in the situation - he instructed officials to look into the justification of the price increase and find those responsible.

Based on the results of the audit, it turned out that the increase in payments for housing and communal services by region varies from 4% to 45%, and sometimes up to 80%. Among the main factors that influenced the increase in citizens' payments were an increase in the cost of fuel, the termination of subsidies to housing and communal services organizations in a number of regions, a decrease in cross-subsidization and falling income of energy companies.
