The United States will extend its participation in the Libyan operation for a day, until April 4, Agency France-Presse reports with reference to the Pentagon statement.
The military department explained that the decision to extend the participation of the US Air Force in the operation in Libya is related to the request of the NATO leadership to leave several American bombers at the disposal of the coalition forces. The Alliance explained this with poor weather conditions.
Earlier it was reported that the United States began to withdraw its troops from the conflict zone and on April 3 stopped applying air strikes in Libya. American aviation was supposed to perform only auxiliary functions: for example, refueling in the air and air intelligence. The Pentagon emphasized that the US withdrawal from hostilities is due to the fact that every day of the military operation in Libya costs the American budget about $ 100 million. At the same time, the States retained the right in the event of an unfavorable development of events to intervene in the events in the country.
