The company Commodore USA officially confirmed the intention to release a modern version of its legendary computer in the form of a keyboard to the market, 3DNews reports. This is what many computers of the 1980s looked like, including Amiga, ZX-SPectrum and many Apple models, as well as the famous Apple II, which is rightfully considered the first personal computer.

Last year, the cult brand turned 25 years old, but the last computer Commodore was released 14 years ago.

Now the company's website has begun to receive preliminary orders for new commodore models made in a nostalgic form factor. Soon, the starting line should be replenished with new models. In total, it is reported that consumers will be offered five configurations worth from $ 250 to 895, deliveries will begin in May-June.

Unlike his ancestor, who once and for all changed the image of home computers once and for all, this copy is a completely modern desktop computer in an old-fashioned gray-brown case: even a corporate logo is exactly the same as in the classic version, and the red power indicator is now also a button of switching/turning off.

Inside the cabinet case, designers placed a motherboard at the Mini-ITX form factor with a dual-core Intel Atom 525 processor and a NVIDIA ION 2 graphic chipset.

On the left side of the machine is a DVD drive, while numerous slots are displayed on the right side of the case. The computer will have HDMI and Dual-Link DVI, six USB ports, built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, as well as a 6-in-1 cardrider.

In addition to the aforementioned Intel Atom 525 1.80 GHz and the NVIDIA 2 graphic chipset, the computer is also equipped with two gigabytes of RAM with the possibility of expanding up to 4 GB.

The new Commodore is running Windows 7, however, especially nostalging users can load the car directly in the classic C64 emulator mode and start games and programs for the original platform on it.

In addition to the model for nostalgia, the company introduced another computer in the keyboard form factor - Commodore Vic -Slim.

In appearance, this novelty is not much different from a regular keyboard, except that is thicker and harder than most models. According to the manufacturer, Vic-Slim is well suited for everyday tasks.

For $ 295, the buyer can buy a system without memory, a disc drive and a wireless connection. Adding 1 GB of memory, hard drive with a volume of 250 GB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth increases the price to $ 395. The maximum configuration with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 2 GB of memory and a Winchester with a volume of 500 GB will cost $ 495.
