In Croatia, the train drove into a pile of collapsed stones: the driver died

The commodity train got off the rails in the area of ​​the village of Zalesin in the northern part of Croatia, a 44-year-old driver died, the Zagreb newspaper Jutarnji List reports.

The accident occurred on Thursday evening at the entrance to one of the tunnels. The composition of about 20 wagons, heading from Zagreb to Rijek, drove into a pile of collapsed stones at speed.

At the same time, the locomotive got off the rails, and the driver fell out of the cab. Another man in the cab, a 23-year-old assistant driver, received injuries and was hospitalized, RIA Novosti reports.

The railway traffic in this area was blocked for several hours. Passengers on the route were transported by buses.
