Mikhail Gorbachev in Germany underwent surgery on the spine

Former President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev underwent surgery on the spine in the clinic of Munich in Germany.

Surgeon Michael Mayer, who underwent surgery, said today that the 80-year-old patient is quickly recovering.

Surgical intervention was carried out five days ago. The operation lasted two hours.

Gorbachev is expected to spend several more days in the German clinic.
