The third party of the state - speaker of the Federation Council Sergey Mironov - may lose his position on May 18. On this day, the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg will consider the issue of his review from the upper house of parliament.

As Mironov RIA Novosti himself stated, he is personally notified on the date of the meeting. Moreover, he was invited to participate in it. On May 18, he will go to St. Petersburg, but before this date there will be no changes to his work schedule.

“I honestly fulfilled my duty as chairman of the Federation Council, and I want those who seek my recall to clearly formulate claims to me,” Interfax quoted Mironov, transferred by his press service. "He treats all this fuss.

The speaker called the conversations insistent that, being a senator, he allegedly contributed to the fact that in the budget of St. Petersburg an additional "did not enter a penny."

Mironov considers the initiative of St. Petersburg "United Russia" "pure amateur performances".

"For St. Petersburg deputies, the top is in Smolny. This is the center - the White House and the Kremlin in Moscow. As for my relationship with Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, they are quite workers, and our party did not call for any resignation," Mironov emphasized.

He explained that it was completely different: in the event of the victory of "fair Russia in the elections in St. Petersburg, the question of changing the authorities will be raised.

"This fits into the framework of the current legislation, when the winning party offers the head of state his candidate for the highest post of the head of the region."

"United Russia" does not yet know what to do with Mironov

The United Russia party has not yet decided on the speaker of the Council of the Federation of the Russian Federation, but the probability of the recall of Sergei Mironov from the upper house of parliament is quite large. This was stated by the first deputy secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of EP Andrei Isaev RIA "Novosti". “The decision in the party for Mironov was not made,” Isaev said.

In turn, political scientist Mark Urnov believes that United Russia may be able to achieve the review of the leader of the Fair Russia party Sergei Mironov from the Federation Council.

“They, apparently, have very serious intentions. They are trying in every possible way to finish the“ Fair Russia ”as their main competitor for the administrative resource before the elections,” said Urnov, who heads the faculty of applied political science of the Higher School of Economics.

He stated that the weakening of “Fair Russia” was Mironov’s departure from the post of chairman of the party, the decision of which was made at the April Congress.

“If Mironov is excommunicated from the Federation Council, then“ Fair Russia ”will turn into a strange education, deprived of any administrative resources,” Urnov believes.

At the same time, he emphasized: “If a political decision has been made, then the fate of“ Fair Russia ”has been decided. Whether Mironov will be removed from the post of speaker of the Federation Council is the second issue. The main thing is that if they are left in this post, his positions will be weakened,” the political scientist said.

In turn, a political scientist, director of the Center for Political Technology, Igor Bunin considers an attempt to initiate a feedback from Mironov from the Federation Council rather as a threat than a real action.

“Most likely, these are a kind of political games. United Russia uses all the possibilities to somehow stop“ fair Russia ”. All opportunities are used for this, first of all, pressure on Mironov. Such attempts were made repeatedly,” he recalled.

According to Bunin, "Fair Russia" is still not a serious rival for the party in power.

"Its maximum result is 10-12%. In addition, the decision to recall Mironov is not the case of United Russia. Such a decision can be made only by a tandem. Therefore, this is rather a threat," the political scientist said.
