
On April 23, 2011, Stanislav Pavlovich Mikheev, a world -famous scientist, had a huge impact on the development of physics of neutrinos and neutrinic astrophysics. He worked at the Institute of Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences from the first days of his education, having traveled from the younger to the chief researcher.
S.P. Mikheev in collaboration with A.Yu. Smirnov discovered new effects in the oscillations of the neutrino due to the influence of the substance, which allowed to solve one of the fundamental mysteries of physics of the 20th century - the problem of a deficiency of solar neutrinos. According to the results of this work, S.P. Mikheev defended his dissertation, and he was assigned the degree of a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.
Stanislav Pavlovich made a huge, and largely determining contribution to the creation and successful functioning of the Baksan underground scintile telescope. He is a student of academician A.E. Chudakova - made a significant contribution to the formation of this academic scientific school and was one of its leaders. He paid a lot of attention to working with young scientists and students.

Pontecorvo (2005) “For the prediction and study of the influence of a substance on the oscillation of the neutrino, called the effect of Mikheev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein”, the June John Sakurai Prize for work in the field of theoretical physics of elementary particles of the American physical society (2008).
