Saakashvili thanked Russia for the ban on the import of Georgian wine

President Mikhail Saakashvili thanked Russia for the ban on the import of Georgian wine and said that the embargo helped Georgian winemakers to improve the quality of wine and find the way to international markets.

“In recent years, the quality of wine has improved significantly,” Saakashvili said in Batumi, where he visited the Devadze winemaker and was poured over a 20 -year exposure, Civil.ge reports.

He said a toast, addressing the owner - they say, from the unique grape varieties growing in Western Georgia, the same unique wines are made.

“Many thanks to Mother Russia, as this embargo helped us a lot from the point of view of improving the quality of wine. Now we are in such a position that if we let our faults into Russia, it will be good, but if they don’t let us in, this is also nothing, the market is all over the world,” continued Saakashvili.

He also noted that Georgia may not have enough fault for export if five million or more tourists come to the country.

In Batumi at the local Drama Theater named after Chavchavadze, the awarding ceremony of the winners of the Home wine festival, in which the President of Georgia took part, took place.
