Representatives of the Polish authorities removed a memorial plate with an inscription in Russian, which was attached by unknown to a memorable stone established in honor of the 90th anniversary of the country's independence. This was reported by the press service of the Great Polish Voivodeship.

"Due to the lack of any agreements with the local authorities regarding the content of the plate and its installation, it was removed in the afternoon. The police are conducting investigative measures to identify persons who illegally established a sign. The governor announced the incident of the Russian consul," the press service said in a message, ITAR-TASS reports.

As noted by Voit (head of the administration), Gmina Stshalkovo Dariusz Gzhivinsky, "the tablet appeared in the wrong place." According to him, she was attached to the stone established in the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of Poland's independence. “The camp and the cemetery are located two kilometers further,” he emphasized in a telephone conversation with an ITAR -TASS correspondent.

The text of the plate, the installation of which caused a wide public resonance in Poland, stated: "8 thousand Soviet Red Army soldiers, cruelly tortured in the Polish" death camps "in 1919-1921, rest here.

Earlier, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Lukashevich, said that Moscow did not know the circumstances of the installation of a memorial plaque near the former Stshkhalkovo camp.

"We invariably proceed from the fact that the fact of the death of a huge number of captured Red Army soldiers in the Polish captivity during the war of 1919-1921 is the tragic page of our common history and remains in the memory of the Russian people," he emphasized, especially noting that "the circumstances of the establishment of this memorial plaque are not known to us."
