
The children's surgeon of the Petrovsk-Zabaikal district hospital (Trans-Baikal Territory) involuntarily became the culprit of the death of a three-year-old girl. The doctor came to work drunk, and instead of helping a little patient, he simply slept. Having sorted out the tragic incident, which happened on August 21, 2010, the investigating authorities charged a 40-year-old medication, Interfax reports.
The doctor is charged with an article “Causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties,” the press service of the regional investigative department of the TFR said on Monday.
According to the investigation, on that day a 3-year-old girl entered the district hospital, who, playing at home, knocked over a barrel of water. The victim was brought to the hospital at 17:20, the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda notes.
"The surgical department on duty at that time was intoxicated and did not take the necessary measures to diagnose injuries during the day," the Trans -Baikal Regional Investigation Department said in a statement . It was established that from two in the morning until five in the morning he slept in the residential, and at 6:30 the girl died.
As it turned out, the girl had a liver rupture, extensive hemorrhage and hemoperitoneum (blood accumulation in the abdominal cavity), which required urgent medical intervention. The investigation of the criminal case continues.
The accused from the district hospital was dismissed. In accordance with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he faces up to three years in prison with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
