Kremlin officials are preparing a bill to abolish the immunity of judges. The document could pose a threat to the entire judicial system, says Anton Ivanov, head of the Supreme Arbitration Court. The system for holding judges accountable should be as objective as possible, lawyers emphasize.

The Kremlin is preparing to limit the immunity of judges. This was stated by the head of the Supreme Arbitration Court Anton Ivanov, ITAR-TASS reports. According to him, preparation of the corresponding bill is already underway. Ivanov noted that if this law is adopted, it becomes possible to influence judges, which means the entire judicial system is under threat.

If such a law is adopted, the judges themselves will have a different attitude towards passing sentences and court decisions, says lawyer Petr Dombrovitsky.

“Currently, when a judge makes any decision, including an illegal decision or sentence, he was simply asked to make such a sentence, and he makes it. He, of course, is not afraid of anything. You can write as much as you want and anywhere, no one will he can be brought in or deprived of his status only if he was disgraced by the higher management,” the lawyer believes. “Of course, if this process of bringing him to justice is simpler, I think the judge will still think about it. “Is it worth making such an illegal decision, bordering on a crime?”

The system for holding judges accountable should be as objective as possible, and for this purpose a special commission can be created, says lawyer, member of the Public Chamber Anatoly Kucherena.

“If there is relevant information that perhaps one of the judges is involved in corruption, then of course it is impossible to carry out any operational measures. Today, when it comes to holding a judge accountable, these issues are in any case resolved through the qualification boards of judges. Maybe we should get away from this,” Kucherena suggested. “This is how a commission has now been created for the extraordinary certification of employees of internal affairs bodies. It includes completely different representatives of the authorities, so that on the one hand there is no bias towards the judge on the part of the same operational employees. investigators, on the other hand, so that we can look into this objectively.”

According to unofficial information, the bill implies the possibility of dismissing a judge even for being late for a meeting.
