Orthodox collected 47 thousand signatures for the restoration of a passionate monastery in the center of Moscow

Representatives of the Orthodox community called for the historical heritage of Pushkin Square in Moscow and restore a passionate monastery there.

"It is time to present the legitimate rights of the Church on the territory of the passionate monastery within the existing boundaries of historical driveways, where the surviving monastery hotel stands, and the preserved foundations of the not completely lost buildings of the monastery are located in the cultural layers of the Earth," the interfax -religion of the appeal of the Orthodox believers to the World Russian People's People's People's People's People's Farm Portal said in the interfax -religion portal. The authors of the document recalled that for five years already on Pushkinskaya Square, prayer standing and godmother moves around the territory of the monastery have been performed "with an appeal to prevent underground construction in a holy place", where the remains of ascetics of the monastery and foundations of destroyed buildings are resting.

"47 thousand signatures were collected, which lie without movement in the office of the Patriarchate and City Hall. During this time, the city government has changed and a new federal law returning the Church to the Blessed Blessings," the appeal said.

The passionate icon, which became famous for the healing of the patients, is called so because it depicts two angels with the guns of suffering (passions) of Christ with spears and a cross next to the Virgin.

In 1929, the Central Anti -religious Museum opened within the walls of the former monastery. In 1937, the buildings were demolished. In the mid-2000s, the city authorities announced plans for the reconstruction of Tverskaya Square. At the site of the demolished monastery, it was planned to build an underground parking for 1 thousand cars.
