The number of registered participants in the world's largest social network Facebook exceeded the mark of 700 million. Such data was published by Socialbakers.com statistics service, RIA Novosti reports.

At the same time, more than 100 million new users have joined the social network in less than five months. A mark of 600 million participants was overcome by Facebook in January 2011.

The US, India and Brazil, the greatest contribution to the increase in the Facebook audience has been made over the past few months - about 10 million accounts have been added to each of the countries (and in Brazil the number of users has more than doubled).

In some countries, the number of Facebook users, on the contrary, has decreased. For example, in Libya there were 200 thousand users less (this is almost 80%). Even higher, the percentage of “retired” only in the tiny Vatican is almost 98%. True, it is only about 920 users.

According to Socialbakers.com , the leader in the number of users, the United States still remain, where more than 155.3 million people are registered on Facebook. In second place by a significant margin from the leader, Indonesia with 37.9 million users is held. The five countries with the largest number of participants in the social network also include the UK (30.7 million), Türkiye (29.5 million) and India (26.6 million).

Meanwhile, in Runet, Facebook is still significantly lagging behind leaders. This social network has about 5 million Russian users, while the most popular social network of VKontakte Runet will soon overcome the mark of 100 million users. More than 67 million accounts are registered on the Odnoklassniki.ru network.
