declared him Persona Non Grad, and the director himself even temporarily decided not to participate in press conferences and live in Denmark. Towards the end of the festival, Trier tried to resolve the scandal in a very peculiar way,
saying in one of the many interviews that he was now a communist. Trier's verbal escapades distracted the public attention from the Melancholy itself. When the impressions of the press conference subsided, the critics were finally able to appreciate the film itself. “This is one of the best films (in the program),”
said Olivier Assay, a member of the Cannes jury. - We all condemn von Trier for his statements, but the film is very well shot, played, written. This is a great directorial work. ” The performer of one of the two main roles in the film Kirsten Dunst
received a reward for the best female role.

This allows her to remain calm at a time when the earth threatens the destruction, while her sister and other people around her are close to panic.

This is not the first time the organizers of the Moscow Film Festival are included in their program Trier, which was previously shown in Cannes.
The director’s previous film - “Antichrist” - was shown outside the competition at the 2009 festival. In Cannes, the audience was so shocked by the film that they ran out of the cinema (those who stayed in the hall were hooked), and the ecumenical jury, awarding the most moral film, awarded the film “Antipraise”, calling it the feminine. In 2000, at the festival, the Russian premiere of the film “Dancing in the Dark”, which had previously won the “Golden Palm Branch”, in 2003, “Dogville”, and in 2005 they showed “Manderley” in 2003.

The festival will open on June 23 by the world premiere of the Hollywood blockbuster "Transformers 3: The Dark Side of the Moon" directed by Michael Bay.
A full house is expected at the show: all the main members of the film crew and several hundred journalists from around the world will come. MMKF organizers do not hide that the artistic value of the film does not matter to them, they only hope to draw attention to the festival. “We will not get places at the opening at all,”
Kommersant quotes the joke of Razdogov, “all places will be occupied by those who came to the premiere of“ Transformers ”, and at the same time, maybe write something about the rest of the festival.”
