The European Union will still not demand from Ukraine a deposit in case of gas supply interruptions. Europe feared that the new gas friction between Moscow and Kyiv would affect its supplies. Kyiv has reassured Europe. However, friendship between Russia and Ukraine is in question.

The European Union allowed Ukraine not to provide a cash key to gas supply from Russia. This became known after negotiations on the entry of Ukraine into the free trade zone held in Brussels.

In Brussels, they demanded that Kyiv voluntarily place a financial security deposit in one of the European banks in the amount of several billion dollars. This money would serve as insurance in case of new disagreements between Ukraine and Russia in the gas sphere, which have already led to the failures of energy supplies to European consumers. Now, noted the first deputy prime minister of Ukraine Andrei Klyuyev, in Brussels these requirements were removed. Europe, according to Klyuyev, will not in any way fine Ukraine in the case of interruptions in gas.

Kyiv actually has almost no contract obligations to Europe. The gas that Europeans buy is extracted in Russia, Gazprom is a counterparty of Europeans. The concern also signs a contract with the Ukrainian “Naftogaz” for gas transit through the territory of Ukraine.

However, regular conflicts between Russia and Ukraine regarding Russian gas supplies force Europe to be additionally insured.

Moreover, the gas conflict in the foreseeable future is quite possible.

Today, however, President Viktor Yanukovych called on the authorities to prepare for high gas prices. However, the Ukrants seriously expect to get concessions from Gazprom. Back in April, after a meeting with Putin, Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov spoke about the achieved agreement to reduce gas prices.

The other day, the Ukrainian government said that "in order to optimize the current contracts, additions were signed to them, which made it possible to reduce the price of natural gas supplied to Ukraine." “The need for natural newspaper population is satisfied with the resource of natural gas of its own production, other categories of consumers - from the resource of imported gas. At the same time, the purchase price of imported natural gas is much higher than the purchase price of natural gas of its own production, ”the government said. Azarov says that Ukraine does not want any benefits, but wants to get a price corresponding to market realities. That is, Ukraine insists on reducing the price.

The Russian position lies in the fact that no serious decrease in Ukraine should be expected.

“We must comply with the agreements. This applies to both the Russian Federation and our Ukrainian partners. All kinds of calls for some unilateral measures, revision should be imposed on the fabric of agreements, and not how else, ”said President Dmitry Medvedev recently at a meeting with the head of Gazprom Alexei Miller.

Russian-Ukrainian friendship seems to have come to an end. After President Medvedev, at a large press conference, spoke quite hard regarding the process of Ukrainian European integration, urging the choice between Russia and Europe, the Customs Union of Russia of Belarus and Kazakhstan introduced new duties on a number of goods. For new duties, some types of pipes, optical fiber, cutlery, fasteners fell. It seems that political problems are also mixed with anti -dumping policy and protecting its own in this case.

Ukraine, apparently, refused to join the Customs Union finally and Moscow decided to give a little partners in negotiations.

The Ukrainian authorities assure that there are no reasons for the excitement of Europeans. “Even the negotiations that we are conducting with Russia in the new formula for gas prices will not affect its transit to Europe in any way,” said Andrei Klyuyev, first prostitute of the Ukrainian government.
