In the Kizlyarsky district of Dagestan, the imam of the rural mosque was killed. According to RIA Novosti, this was announced by the representative of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan.

"The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the village of Mikheevka, Kizlyarsky district of Dagestan. Unknown people fired at the imam of the rural mosque, he died. The details of the incident are being clarified," the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to the representative of Susk in Dagestan, Imam Ashurulav Kurbanov was discovered with gunshot wounds on Tuesday morning near the mosque. "Kurbanov from the injuries died on the spot, an operational -investigation group is currently working there," the agency’s interlocutor noted.

In early April, in the Kizlyar district of Dagestan, the imam of the rural mosque Magomed Saypulaev was killed. Unknown people shot from a machine gun to the window of the house in the village of Yasnaya Polyana, where Imam was located. There were two attackers. At the crime scene, 20 sleeves and 6 bullets were seized.

Investigators associate the murder of an imam with his religious-public activity and an irreconcilable position in relation to extremists. Earlier, Saypulaev received threats from gangs, whose activities he condemned.
