The structure of the government will be changed in Kyrgyzstan, AKIpress reports . In accordance with the decree, which was signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic Almaz Atambayev , it is planned, in particular, to reduce the number of ministries from 20 to 17.

The Ministry of Economic Regulation, in accordance with the plan, will be transformed into the State Committee for Economic Development and Investment. The Ministry of State Property - to the fund of the same name. As for the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, they are supposed to be merged into one.

Kyrgyz authorities say the goal of the reform is to optimize the governance structure.

The resolution on changes in the government is expected to be approved by parliament in the near future.

The public administration reform, which involved the redistribution of functions between ministries and departments, was carried out in Kyrgyzstan at the end of 2009. Then the declared goals were to reduce the number of officials and reduce the bureaucracy. The opposition assessed the reform as an attempt to strengthen the president’s influence on the executive branch (it was noted, in particular, that the Minister of Foreign Affairs was being removed from the government and transferred to the presidential administration).
