The pilot of a Robinson R44 helicopter, which landed on the territory of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra (Moscow region) with State Duma deputy from the LDPR Leonid Slutsky on board, was fined, the State Aviation Supervision Agency reported on Monday.

“The reason for this violation was the pilot’s violation of the ban on flying over populated areas and landing in them without permission from the relevant local government authority. An administrative penalty in the form of a fine was applied to the perpetrator of the offense,” RIA Novosti quotes the department’s report .

The press service did not specify the size of the fine.

At the end of May, it became known that the Russian Orthodox Church had forgiven the deputy who landed by helicopter in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra .

“The act is truly extraordinary, I don’t want to justify it entirely, but this case can be called an exception,” Bishop Daniil of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory said then.

A video of a helicopter landing in the center of the Lavra, filmed on June 11 during Patriarch Kirill’s service in Sergiev Posad, was published on YouTube and caused a heated discussion among believers .

“First of all, the deputy did not break into the church during the service,” the bishop said in his defense. “At this time, the meal was ending, the meeting with His Holiness the Patriarch began, and the deputy who was supposed to present a report was late for it. He first of all asked for forgiveness from His Holiness and from all those present; he also asked for forgiveness from St. Sergius, the founder of the Lavra, in prayer at his holy relics.”
