The Moscow City Court has scheduled the selection of a jury for August 9 in the case of the murder of Spartak fan Yegor Sviridov . Thus, the petition of the main defendant in the case, Aslan Cherkesov, accused of murdering a football fan, who asked to be tried by a jury, was granted.

Cherkesov is the only one of the six defendants whose charge requires a jury. According to the law, if at least one of the defendants requests a jury trial, then the court cannot deny him this request. The main defendant in the case, 27-year-old native of Nalchik Cherkesov, is accused of hooliganism, murder, attempted murder, intentionally causing minor bodily harm and robbery. Other defendants - 20-year-old natives of Dagestan Akai Akaev, Artur Arsibiev and Nariman Ismailov, 19-year-old Khasan Ibragimov and Ramazan Utarbiev - are accused of hooliganism and intentionally causing minor harm to health.

According to investigators, on the night of December 6, 2010, while intoxicated, near a public transport stop on Kronstadt Boulevard, the defendants approached a group of Muscovites waiting for a taxi. “Using an insignificant reason and a statement from one of them, the accomplices attacked the young people and beat them,” the Prosecutor General’s Office previously reported . At the same time, Cherkesov fired two shots at two people from his “Streamer-2014” traumatic pistol, “causing slight harm to their health.”
