Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov won the Grand Prix of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. Announcing the winner of the main award of the Tchaikovsky Competition at the end of the gala concert, Valery Gergiev noted: “All members of the jury were completely unanimous that Daniil Trifonov deserved this prize.”

Trifonov has already been named the winner of a gold medal in the piano specialty. He also received the Audience Award.

The winners of the music competition were announced at the awards ceremony in Moscow on June 30.

In the “Cello” specialty, Narek Hakhnazaryan from Armenia won, second place went to Edgar Moreau from France, third place went to Ivan Karizna from Belarus, fourth place went to Norbert Anger from Germany, and fifth place went to Umberto Clerice from Italy.

The jury of the competition in the violin specialty decided not to give anyone a gold medal or first place. Second place was shared by Israeli violinist Itamar Zorman Sergey Dogadin from Russia, third place went to Jaehya Lee from Korea. American violinist Nigel Armstrong took fourth place, and Eric Silberger from the USA took fifth place. The Audience Award was awarded to Sergei Dogadin.

The first place in the specialty “solo singing” was shared by South Koreans Sun Young Seo and Park Jeongmin first place. The jury gave second place to Enkhbat Amartuvshin from Mongolia. There were no winners in this category among women, but Russian Elena Guseva took third place. The men were not awarded third place. The Audience Award went to Guseva and Amartuvshin.

For first place in each specialty, gold medals and 20 thousand euros were awarded, for second place - silver medals and 15 thousand, then in descending order - 10, 5 and 3 thousand euros.

In addition, for the first time in its history and in accordance with the rules of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition collaborated with three famous world music agencies, which organize three-year tours for the laureates in Russia and abroad.

In turn, Gergiev also plans to organize performances of the winners with the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. RIA "Novosti"
