The Sochi Olympics program will include three more new disciplines

The program of the Olympic Games - 2014 will include three new disciplines in which six sets of awards will be played. This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee during the 23rd IOC session, which is taking place these days in the South African Durban.

According to the IOC press service , at the games in Sochi there will be men's and women's competitions in the ski slopstail, Slopstail on snowboarding and a command-bearing slalom on snowboarding. Slopstail - a type of competition consisting of a series of acrobatic jumps on springboards, pyramids, counter -fingers, railing, located sequentially throughout the track.

“We are very pleased to add these disciplines to the program of the Winter Olympic Games. Such competitions are incredibly spectacular, of course, they will like fans. In addition, the inclusion of these disciplines will expand the list of competitions in which young athletes take part. We are impatiently waiting for the start of games in Sochi,” ITARS TASS President Jacques Rogge quoted.

In April of this year, the IOC also announced the inclusion in the program of the Winter Olympiad - 2014 more new disciplines: a haf -pipe in Freestyle (men and women), women's skiing, a mixed relay race in biathlon, team figure skating and relay in sanny sports.

The IOC Executive Committee also presented a short list of competitions, which can be included in the schedule of the 2020 summer Olympiad, RIA Novosti reports. Eight out of 12 sports considered by the Committee fell into it: baseball, karate, roller skates, softball, climbing, squat, wakeboard and Wushu. Spectators of the OI-2020 will not see Bowling, sports dancing, surfing and non -ball competitions.

The final list of sports, which will be included in the program of the 32nd year Olympiad, will be approved at a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee in early 2013.
