Iran first tested missiles in the Indian Ocean

Iran announced on Saturday the conduct of two distant radius missiles in the Indian Ocean at the beginning of the year of testing, reports Reuters.

“In the month of Bakhman (from January 21 to February 19), two missiles with a radius of action 1 thousand 900 kilometers were launched from the Province of Semann (in the north of Iran) to the center of the Indian Ocean,” the Reuters agency quoted the commander of one of the elite airborne units of the Islamic Revolutionary Revolutionary (Xirir) of Iran, Amir Ali Hadjizateha.

According to him, this is the first time that Iranian forces conduct tests of such missiles in the Indian Ocean.

What models of missiles were tested is not specified, however, according to the classification of missiles according to the flight range on the basis of the Soviet-American Treaty on the 1987 RSMD, we are apparently talking about medium-range missiles (from 1 thousand to 5.5 thousand kilometers).

The statement of Hadjizadekh was made at a press conference broadcast by Iran’s state television.

At the end of June, the Iranian forces of the KSIR launched nine Zelzal missiles, two Shahab-1 missiles, two Shahab-2 and one Shahab-3. After that, the British Foreign Minister William Heig announced that Iran had conducted secret tests of ballistic missiles and missile launchers in violation of the UN Security Council. The representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied these accusations.
