
The Silk Road-2011 rally starts on Saturday in Moscow from Red Square. The race route will pass through Lipetsk, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Stavropol and Maykop. Exactly a week later, on July 16, the automatic rover finishes in Sochi, at the 2014 Olympic Sacques Center.
"The Organizing Committee of the Rally sets himself the task of combining two Olympic capitals-Moscow-1980 and Sochi-2014," ITAR-TASS Vice-Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Nikolai Doluda said.
This year, a record number of participants will enter the Marathon routes - about 150 sports crews. This is more than twice as much as the indicators of last season. In total, athletes from 28 countries of the world will compete in the marathon. For the main prizes, 110 crews of cars and 40 cargo are consulted. The crews will overcome about 4000 kilometers.
The current rally in Russia is third in a row. The race was first held in 2009 along the Kazan-Ashhabad route. In 2010, riders started in St. Petersburg, and finished in Sochi. Compared to the previous, the route of the current rally has been changed - now there will be more high -speed sections in the Krasnodar Territory, which will make the Silk Road more interesting and spectacular.
Serious attention is paid to the security issues of the competition. At any section of the race, wherever the emergency, the medical assistance helicopter will take from three to five minutes to pick up the injured crew and deliver it to the hospital that will follow the column on the service route.
