Dontsova and Ustinova asked Yandex to stop the pirates

A group of Russian writers turned to the management of the Yandex company with a request to assist them in protecting copyrights on the Runet. The corresponding letter, addressed to the general director of the company Arkady Volozh and available to Lenta.ru, was distributed by the Eksmo publishing house.

Writers ask Yandex to exclude pages of pirated sites from search results, as Google has already done . As stated in the letter, this method of countering pirates is “one of the world’s most successfully used practices today.”

“Unfortunately, at present, most Russian search engines help unscrupulous users find resources where stolen copyright objects are located. We are convinced that you do not build your business on such a service,” the letter also says.

The letters were signed by writers Daria Dontsova, Tatyana Ustinova, Tatyana Polyakova, Alexandra Marinina and a number of others, as well as journalist Leonid Parfenov, musician Andrei Makarevich and director Andrei Konchalovsky.

Earlier, Yandex press secretary Ochir Mandzhikov had already stated that the largest Russian search engine would not remove any pages from the search results, as this would be “censorship and a violation of the right of citizens to freely search for information.”
