More than 300 priests in Austria joined the movement for radical reforms in the Catholic Church

More than 300 priests of the Catholic Church in Austria (the total number of priests in the country is 4,200 people) committed themselves to take part in the initiative of the Aufruf Zum Ungehorsam ("call for innocence"), nominated in June of this year.

Activists of the "call" in their software document explain their actions "Rome's refusal of the long -harassed reform of the Church and the inaction of the bishops."

Priests who support this initiative gave a vow to pray for the reform of the Catholic Church in every liturgy. They also decided not to refuse the Eucharist to all "believers of the goodwill", including non -Catholics and those who have re -marriage outside the bosom of the Catholic Church.

Among the measures proposed by the clerks - the call to stop making more than one Mass on Sundays and holidays, as well as the conduct of the "Liturgy of the Word" that could be performed by a worldly rank, without priests, but with the commission of previously consecrated gifts.

According to the supporters of this initiative, it would avoid both the lack of priests and their excessive liturgical workload, and would free time for pastoral work.

Reformers call for the abolition of those canonical norms that exist in the Catholic Church, which limit the pronunciation of preaching clergy. They also called for the confluence and enlargement of the parishes, insisting that every parish should have its own leader, "be it a man or woman."

The priests of the modernist reform also require the recognition of the possibility of ordaining the holy dignity of not only married men, but also women.

Meanwhile, as the archbishop of Viennese Cardinal Christoph Schenborn, the call to disobedience, said in his message to the clergy. Prolate recalled that the priests voluntarily vowed to obedience to their bishop when dedicated to the rank. The cardinal in this regard turned to his clergymen with the question: "Can I count on you?"

“Christian obedience is a school of freedom,” added the cardinal. “We are talking about its specific manifestations in life, about which we pray every time we read“ Our Father ”and ask God to show our will in the sky and on Earth.
